Check these guys out. Just got their single off iTunes. The band is Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). How these three came together, I have no clue–but I’m not questioning it. Wow. The whole album drops November 17th. Good, good rock…
Ok, so I re-designed the back cover (see the post below for the original version). The composition is a little more interesting, the quote is a little more legible, and I feel like the overall piece is more effective and emotional (maybe?). Any thoughts?
P.S. — I want the quote to be “a little” difficult to read. I want people to engage themselves, reeeeeaaalllly look at it, and digest what is being said.
So I just threw this together with a few moments of free time today. Not sure if its the final piece, but i like it. Wanted to share… Who doesn’t like a little C.S. Lewis to end one’s day? ”The safest road to Hell is the gradual one…the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts…” So amazing. That man had some serious wisdom. Oh…and its from The Screwtape Letters. Which, I was just told by my friend Maris, just so happens to be an on-stage production this weekend in Phoenix. What are the odds? Yea, get there…
Here’s a sneak peek at a pretty in-depth project myself and Chris Loope have been working on. It’s an official “QNTM Studios” project. An entire documentary for the band Future of Forestry called, “SOLSTICE: Future of Forestry’s Advent Journey”. Comes out in November. Here’s the artwork I created… The band loves it. One member even said he almost “peed his pants” when he saw it. Hope you do too. Enjoy ~
I’m resurrecting my inner blogging man. It has taken a sick day to make me sit down and hit the keys yet again. Whether its work of mine, or just something that interests me, you will see something. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. There’s a lot going on… Can’t wait to share. Love you all…gangsters.
HACK. HACK. HACK. The first shirt (on the left side with the better design) is something I created almost 2 years ago. I put it up for sale on deckpeck.com about a year ago. Today, a friend showed me the second shirt (the poorly designed one on the right, by a designer named Reack) on the same website. C’mon, really? I know people say that crap about “…imitation is the highest form of flattery…bullcrap…”, but really? At least change up the color scheme. However, I will give you credit for changing the position of the straw–and for making it a bendy one at that… But my shirt’s all hand-drawn. Even the font. You wanna know how long it took me to draw that? I’d tell you if I could remember. Nice dafont.com font. Stay in school kids, don’t do hacks.
So here’s the front and back cover, plus a couple of pages and an article spread from this month’s magazine. Yeah, that’s Candace Cameron on the cover from Full House. This turned out to be a pretty cool issue…. Photographs by the amazing Chris Loope ~
So here’s the second cool project I’ve been working on: RANSOM ME. This is the charity organization started by a friend of mine and fellow employee at Cornerstone, Heather Nyhart, that sets out to “contribute to the movement to end sex trafficking”. Aside from being informative, right now they are in the process of producing a set (of 6) designer coffee/tee mugs. Each mug will have a different look and feel (another project I have some creative liberty with) and will be made available for purchase as they are produced…
Wow. So its been a good chunk of time since I’ve posted. I’ve got about 8-10 posts I’m gonna be throwing on here so stay tuned in. What’s that you say? Haha….no way. You’re not getting them all at once. I’m spreading this out…
First one up: Future of Forestry’s “Travel II EP” artwork. I had a lot of fun working on this. Eric and the guys kinda give me creative liberty–which is always nice. As far as the EP goes, its dopazing (dope + amazing…..I can say what I want. This is my blog.) These guys worked hard on these songs. They’ve got a fresh new sound to them. It comes out September 8th. Buy it–at the least, for the artwork ~
I’ve got ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and now THIS to looks forward to. Any filmmaker up for adapting ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’?! Please do… Enjoy.
